Career Based Learning

The Elkhorn Area School District offers a variety of career based learning experiences (CBLE's) where students can work during the school day at an entry-level position in a chosen career field. By taking advantage of this opportunity, students can experience in more depth what a particular job/career is all about. Students can choose a program from the following options that best fits into their academic schedule and academic career plan:

 >  Job Shadow  (Typically one or one-half day experiences; the following
     program objectives, eligibility requirements, and application process 
             do not apply. The student should speak to their school counselor or
             the Career and Tech Ed Coordinator to set up their job shadow
> Internship (Internal co-ops)
> State Certified Co-op
> Youth Apprenticeship
Program Objectives:
Students develop employability skills along with technical skills involved in the job
Students develop personal and social qualities to be used throughout their lives
Students can connect and apply classroom learning and application to their occupational experiences
Students can build a network of contacts as they continue to grow and develop in their career field

Program Eligibility:

Student must have formulated a career of interest 

Student must be of junior or senior standing

Parent permission and support must be secured

Students must comply to all specific program requirements and expectations

Application Process:

Students must meet with their school counselor and the Career and Technical Education Coordinator to determine eligibility and course scheduling

Students must complete the application paperwork and submit to the Career and Tech Ed. Coordinator

Students need to have a completed resume
