Course Description:
Wind Ensemble is an ensemble which performs music that is advanced and very demanding of performance skills. The repertoire includes music from all periods and styles. Placement is determined by audition or by instructor consent.  Students in Wind Ensemble develop their performance skills through the preparation for the following required performances:  three formal concerts, a halftime marching show, and three parades.  Band members also learn Pep Band music as part of the course, and they are encouraged to perform at home football and home basketball games. There is also an optional opportunity for solo and small ensemble performances in Spring every year.  Students receive a prescribed number of individual or partner lessons, during which students develop their skills in scales, intonation, tone quality, sight reading, and technique.
Special Notes: All band students need a pair of solid black shoes for concert and marching performances.
Students may choose to take this course 1, 2 or 3 trimesters.
