Career-Based Learning Experiences
The Elkhorn Area School District offers a variety of career and work-based learning experiences (CBLEs) where students can work during the school day at an entry-level position in a chosen career field. By taking advantage of this opportunity, students can experience in more depth what a particular job/career is all about. Students can choose a program from the following options that best fits into their academic schedule and academic career plan:
Job Shadow (Typically one or one-half day experiences; the following program objectives, eligibility requirements, and application process do not apply. The student should speak to their school counselor, teacher, or the Career and Tech Ed Coordinator to set up their job shadow experience.)
Internship (Internal co-ops)

Youth Apprenticeship
Internship
Internship is a one trimester commitment with a minimum of 75 hours of either paid or unpaid work experience and is worth .5 credit.
Youth Apprenticeship
Youth Apprenticeship is a one year commitment by the student that requires a minimum of 450 hours of paid work experience.The three trimester course is worth 1.5 credits and requires 2 trimesters of related classroom instruction.
State Certified Co-Op
The Wisconsin State Certified Occupational Co-op is a three trimester commitment with a minimum of 480 hours of paid work experience and is worth 1.5 credits.
The Wisconsin State Certified Employability Co-op is a two to three trimester commitment with a minimum of 90 hours of paid work experience and is worth .5 to 1.5 credits depending on the number of trimesters it is taken.
